“By combining branching video design with media created in Synthesia, we were able to produce a digital learning experience that simulates a trainer-led session – and we’re delighted with the results.”
– Kelly Rodrigues, Learning Product Manager
Dynamic interactive experience
Setting out to produce content that was more engaging and immersive for learners, the UK Coaching team’s combined use of Synthesia and Near-Life allowed them to create an exercise that provides a dynamic, interactive experience.
The short exercise is focussed on the important role that coaches play in supporting the mental wellbeing of those they coach. It aims to get coaches to think about the positive impact that physical activity has on the mental wellbeing on all involved, and how coaches can develop their coaching, further, adopting a person centred approach.
The content is accessible to everyone and is part of a wider learning course that will be available at www.ukcoaching.org from 5 June 2023.
Something new and innovative
Kelly Rodrigues, a Learning Product Manager with UK coaching, explains how the content authoring tools helped support their learning objectives:
“We’re always looking at how we can improve engagement, knowledge retention and skill development, and wanted to try something new and innovative. Near-Life’s interactive video and VR authoring tool makes it very simple to create interactive and immersive learning. By combining branching video design with media created in Synthesia, we were able to produce a digital learning experience that simulates a trainer-led session – and we’re delighted with the results.”
UK Coaching have ambitious plans to further explore interactive video learning and the potential it has to offer.
Near-Life CEO Mike Todd added:
“We’re big fans of the work UK Coaching do. It’s fantastic to be able to support their mission to empower coaches across all coaching environments (sports, activity and leisure). Our own mission is to make immersive and interactive learning accessible to more people, helping improve how we learn – and we hope this project can play a part in that.”
UK Coaching supports the nations’ three million coaches by delivering best practice, training, research and industry standards across sports, communities and national governing bodies of sport.
