K-12 Education - Interactive Chemistry Lesson

Interactive video experience for UK high school chemistry curriculum

A UK High school used Near-Life to create an interactive educational video. “This video has been such an amazing tool for teaching my students. I can’t wait to make more in the future for other topics – it’s opened my eyes to how powerful interactivity could be for education.”

Removing risk from experiential learning

This interactive chemistry lesson covers the Key Stage 3 topics of acids and alkalis, pH and how universal indicator can be used to demonstrate pH of different substances.

This interactive chemistry lesson brings to life how acids and alkalis are part of everyday life. However, adding universal indicator to household items would be irresponsible for students to do in the real world.

Near-Life allows you to create life-like experiences with real decision-making without any risks.

A step into the future for the education sector

Interactive, gamified learning has taken away the necessity for a teacher to be present during all learning, maximising on visual aids as well as audio and decison-making to increase information retention.

The interactive chemistry lesson has been set to capture the names of students who play to allow the teacher to view insights into how students have interacted on an individual basis. With aggregated data, the teacher can easily see the areas that students might need more help with.

Use cases

  • Good home learning aid (homework or for students that can’t attend lessons)
  • Suitable for non subject-specialist cover teachers to use
  • Revision tool
“They loved it. Gamifying learning is ideal for students. Students don’t seem to get much out of sitting and copying down information into a book. It’s also really hard to do practicals like this all the time, especially with the younger years. It takes a whole lesson to do an experiment, and it can be a mess. Often there’s only one child in each group that does all the work. This interactive lesson means I know that each child has sat down and gone through everything."
