Energy Saver App is a free mobile app from Oxfordshire County Council. It uses clever technology to analyse users’ smart meter data and understand their home energy use. It then gives users highly personalised insights that their smart meter can’t, so they can make informed choices about their home’s energy use and efficiency. The app encourages more sustainable living by analysing smart meter data to offer personalised energy-saving advice and recommendations, empowering users to make informed choices about their energy usage.
Energy Saver App offers a range of features like energy spike alerts, personalised actionable tips, home efficiency upgrade predictions and more. The Energy Saver App team were aware that different features would appeal to different people, and needed to find a way to break up the information so that users could learn more about the features they found interesting.
To effectively communicate its range of features, the Energy Saver App team used Near-Life to create an interactive video experience.
Near-Life’s no-code solution enabled the Energy Saver App team to create a branching video where viewers could see all the features and choose which ones they wanted to learn more about. This broke the information into a more navigable experience, where a single linear video would have been far more time consuming and less helpful to the viewer.

This interactive approach helped the Energy Saver App assist its audience by breaking down complex features into more digestible and engaging video segments, allowing the user to learn more about what interests them without being forced to see things that don’t.
