Interactive video infographic – supporting experiential learning

Interactive video infographic – a solution for bland elearning

Interactive video is emerging as a solution to overcome training that isn’t engaging.  With more flexibility and higher retention levels, our interactive video infographic shows how you can support experiential learning with dynamic content.

1. Realistic choices

Providing the learner with realistic choices bridges the gap between theory and practice. The use of interactive video can provide a real understanding of how a situation should be dealt with by presenting the learner with a problem and realistic choices to choose from. Assuming the knowledge being taught is relevant and realistic, the learner should be able to systematically make choices based on reliable information.

2. Authentic situations

Authentic situations make a learning experience more relevant and engaging. By using using realistic simulated scenarios, interactive video can fully immerse the learner in the experience. This not only improves retention but also makes the learning more meaningful. For example, our Near-Life™ scenarios are filmed on location to give learners an authentic experience.

3. Real time decisions

As well as the learner being immersed into realistic situations, interactive video can also provide them with the chance to make real time decisions. This allows the learner to be in control, resulting in higher engagement. Learners will benefit this feature when it comes to life on the job as they will have already experienced similar situations and how to efficiently and effectively deal with them.

4. Built in feedback

With the understanding that interactive video brings higher engagement, incorporating feedback only boosts that. Feedback can be given at checkpoints throughout the interaction and at completion. The learner will have the opportunity to reflect on what they have learnt and how to improve in the future. Learners will also be able to see the positives of which parts they succeeded in – great motivation to always perform well.

5. Data insights

Data insights are drawn from critical points within the interaction such as decision points. This allows the learning manager to provide further rationale for each learner and to modify learning outcomes in the future. Additionally, it will allow one to one feedback for the learners to identify gaps in their knowledge to allow improvements in further learning and on the job. As well as allowing improvement, data insights will also show the learning manager positive behaviours from learners, and areas of the learning which work well.
